Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus
 
 
Pompey had expanded the Roman Empire in East Asia, and held his second consulship in 55 B.C.
He was now a close ally of Caesar's and had married his daughter, Julia, in 59 B.C.

Catullus denounces Caesar and Pompey, referring to the latter as "cinaedus Romulus (sodomite Romulus)":
