SI quicquam mutis gratum acceptumque sepulcris 1 IF the silent grave can receive any pleasure, or sweetness at all
accidere a nostro, Calue, dolore potest,
2
from our grief, Calvus,
quo desiderio ueteres renouamus amores 3 the grief and regret with which we make our old loves live again,
atque olim missas flemus amicitias,
4
and weep for long-lost friendships,
certe non tanto mors immatura dolori est 5 surely Quintilla feels less sorrow for her too early death,
Quintiliae, quantum gaudet amore tuo.
6
than pleasure from your love.
