DISERTISSIME Romuli nepotum, 1 Most skilled in speech of the descendants of Romulus,
quot sunt quotque fuere, Marce Tulli, 2 all who are, and all who have been, and all who shall be
quotque post aliis erunt in annis, 3 hereafter in other years, Marcus Tullius,
gratias tibi maximas Catullus 4 to thee his warmest thanks Catullus gives,
agit pessimus omnium poeta, 5 the worst of all poets;
tanto pessimus omnium poeta, 6 as much the worst poet of all
quanto tu optimus omnium patronus. 7 as you are the best advocate of all.
