THE NEIGHBOR

Introduction: The play takes place in Philumena's house. Delphium has fallen in love with Philumena's slave. Philumena goes away on a business trip and when she comes back, she finds her slave and neighbor in her house.

Pseudolus: Fine I will tell you, you are so attractive. Lie down. (Pg. 426 Lysistrata) They hear a noise

Delphium: Look to your left. Who is that woman? (Pg. 19 Braggert Soldier: Palestrio)

Pseudolus: Well give me a kiss to tide me over. (Pg. 428 Lysistrata)

Philumena walks in through the kitchen, to the living room, where Delphium and Pseudolus are sitting.

Philumena: Goodness, what seems to be the trouble, too hot? (Pg.382 Lysistrata)

Philumena: How can you clear yourself, when you’ve done such monstous and disgraceful things? Perhaps because you’re use to plundering the foe you think you’re free to act here as you please, scoundrel? (Pg.27 the braggart soldier; Periplectomenus)

Delphium: Myself? (Pg.105 the brothers; menaechmus)

Philumena: Yourself. (Pg.105 the brothers; menaechmus)

Pseudolus: Yes, today at last you know what kind of slave I really am. (Pg.70 braggart soldier; Palestrio) He walks off, with his head down.

Delphium: You think that of me? (Pg. 321 mother-in-law; Pamphilus) Turning back to Philumena after they both watch Pseudolus walk out

Philumena: I might point out that lifting one’s hand against a neighbor is scarcely civilized behavior. (Pg389 Lysistrata; Koryphaios of women)

Delphium looks astonished and walks out
