VULCAN
Vulcan

Vulcan was a very ancient Roman god of destructive natural fire, especially the fire associated with volanic eruptions. He became identified with the Greek god Hephaestus, the god of the forge, an excellent craftsman and metalworker. Vulcan had his own special priest among the ancient order of Roman priests called flamines.

This bronze Roman statuette, dating from the first - second century CE, shows Vulcan wearing the traditional garment of the craftsman, a short, one-shouldered tunic called the exomis.
