Bringing Students into VRoma

  1. Get a character for yourself first, and become familiar with the VRoma MOO. To apply for a character, fill out our Volunteer form, and be sure to indicate that you are a teacher who wants eventually to bring students onto the MOO. We recommend that you allow several weeks for getting comfortable with using the MOO and exploring the possibilities before you request characters for your students.
  2. If possible, send mail at least two weeks in advance to bmcmanus@cnr.edu advising us of your intent to bring students on-line. Include the name and level of your class and the approximate number of students.
  3. In order for us to create characters for your students, we will need the following information, at least two weeks in advance of the first time you want your students to log in. Send tobmcmanus@cnr.edu the following information for each student in the format shown below (if it is easier, you may attach a Word file with this information):
character name for student 1 email address for student 1 first name of student 1 last name of student 1
character name for student 2 email address for student 2 first name of student 2 last name of student 2

If you don't have preferred character names, simply list student 1, student 2, etc. and we will set up temporary ones that the students can change after they login. Please include your real name, your MOO character name, the name and level of your course, and the length of time these logins should remain operational (semester? school year?). Please describe briefly how you would like to incorporate VRoma into your course.

When characters are set up, mail will be sent to each student with login information, and the teacher will be sent a master list of all student character names and passwords.

Do not hesitate to contact any of the VRoma directors or Core Faculty members if you have questions about using the VRoma MOO! You may also request to be added to the "vromacore" listserv (for VRoma teachers). Good luck!
